This is based on the character Coraline, from the book of the same name, as she is depicted in the recent movie (which is still to be released here...) The book is by Neil Gaiman. it is a very good book. I was originally going to do the naked, eyeless doll on one of the book's covers, but was requested to do it like this instead. The paintjob is not true to the reference because I like creepy dolls, but it would be just as easy to paint it with rosy cheeks and without the shadowing about the eyes. It didn't photograph so well- not sure if it's me or my camera.
the pattern is up for sale, 7.50$ American, $10 australian, at slightly_lost@hotmail.com on paypal- just put 'coraline' in the notes so I know what it's for. [link] it is also up on etsy, now.
The finished doll is about the same height as a sheet of A4 paper included in the pdf , which will be emailed to you apon payment: -3 pages of pattern peices in crisp vector lines with two options for the raincoat's hood (1 large one for having the hood up, and the small one pictured, which looks better when down. head is designed so you can make it smaller without having to alter pattern peices.) -1 page of diagrams to aid in construction -6 pages of detailed instructions. The head is a little tricky, but the rest is suitable for a beginner. - 3 photos of the finished doll (1 full body, 2 face)
to give an idea of scale, the coat is a rather snug fit on a barbie doll.

man, there were dramas getting this up- some bum stole my laptop, camera, wireless modem, extrernal hardrives and some other stuff- got it back eventually, when they came back to ask how to get the modem to go (under a stupid excuse... I suspected them, so asked to see their setup...which was my laptop, with my name sanded off. ) But, the hardrive I had the instructions on had been reformatted, so it was gone. Thankfully, I had the pattern on the other one, and it was a new drive so there wasn't much else on it. This was /after/ my engagement thing, and before some other bum stole my bike. then we had to get ready to move because our landlord is selling the house. --
copyright info- it's not my character, but the pattern is mine. If you buy it, please don't distribute copies if you enter a doll made from it in any competition or gallery, I would appreciate a link here. Please don't claim the pattern is your own. If dolls are made for charity or comission, that is cool. Using it for a large commercial thingy is not cool. If you are Neil Gaiman and want me to stop selling this pattern, I'll take it down. (...and do the whole embarassing OMG he noticed me thing.) It's intended as fan-art, and I'm only charging because I don't like vectors or writing instructions
I can't get over how beautiful she is I'd be tempted to get one (since I've been trying to find one for such a long time) or even make one myself, but I don't think I'd be allowed either way. Out of curiosity what is she made of?
sorry for the slow reply- she's made of assorted cloth, an old raincoat, with a skin of synthetic stretch fabric (as I couldn't find cotton jersy in the right colours) over a structure layer of felt, with wire wrapped in wool and fluff to give her freatures more structure.
I used to sell the pattern, but they made me take it down from etsy. :/
